Broadway Daily Bread Bakery: San Antonio: Shavano Park

On my first and unexpected trip to San Antonio during my recent vacation in Texas, our host Sarah suggested a bakery to Cortney and me for our breakfast fuel before we were off to the Alamo and the Riverwalk and then another stint of driving from San Antonio to Pflugerville.  Of course, Cortney and I were going to be eating at a restaurant on the Riverwalk, so we probably didn't really need to eat as much as we did (okay I didn't need to eat as much as I did) at the Broadway Daily Bread Bakery, but that's what happens when you walk into a bakery and smell fresh baked goods and there's a sample tray with half a dozen or so goodies out for you.

Sarah likes the place in part because on Tuesdays and Thursdays they have some sugar-free options (and she just lost 151 pounds!), like this blueberry muffin:
Sugar-free Blueberry Muffin
And it was pretty good!

Yummier though, was this goodie, something I haven't had in several years:
Kolache!
Sausage and Cheese Kolache

Ah, soft white doughiness surrounding sausage and melted cheese. I only wish they'd also had some jalapeno, sausage and cheese ones, but that apparently only happens on Saturdays. If you have favorite treats, there are different daily specials, so be sure to check the website.

Now that I'd had savory, it was time for dessert, and Cortney and I wound up both deciding to get one of these:
Sour Cream Pecan Muffin
Yumsies!

Also tried a bite of Cortney's cinnamon roll:

A very nice cinnamon roll, so soft and sweet.

I also had a large cup of "mocha java" coffee, which was pretty good, but I wished they'd had a non-dairy creaming option. Oh well, that's what Lactaid's for.

About this time, I had the opportunity to review their restroom, which was nice and spacious, very comfortable for long visits.

Though we were quite full, I had now found some room to try this treat that Sarah bought for us, a chocolate walnut mini cupcakes:
Mmm chocolatey... and then I felt sick... in kind of a good way!
You can also get freshly-made sandwiches on their house-baked bread here.
Cheddar Jalapeno Sourdough loaf

Thursdays:
-Challah Bread (so there is Challah bread in Texas!  This is the first time I've ever seen it!  Of course maybe I'm just noticing it for the first time now)
-Jalapeno Cornbread

Fridays:
-PB Brownie Cupcakes
-Jalapeno Cheese Loaf
-Rosemary Olive Sourdough
-Honey Oat Spelt Muffin
-100% Spelt Birdman loaf (more healthful bread with a bunch of seeds and nuts, undoubtedly very flavorful too!)

Saturdays:
-PB Brownie Cupcakes
-Jalapeno Cheese Loaf

Click here for a guide to their breads.  This location's website is a work in progress, but the original location's website is pretty helpful (just don't expect the same specials).

Also, there were some cute lesbians working there, in case that makes any difference to ya!
