Gigi Gelateria: Boston: North End

Some self-proclaimed foodies at gave me suggestions on where to take my mother North End-wise when she came into town this past summer (2012). After trying out Rabia's, per the advice of a couple of them, we headed to Gigi Gelateria for dessert, which three of them had suggested.

We were both struck by how far from the best gelato we'd ever had this was. The flavors were fine, but the texture was not as smooth and creamy as you come to gelato for. In fact, the tiramisu in particular had that crystalline, almost freezer burnt texture. Maybe it was an off day, but I'm not inspired to try again at Gigi.
