My New Favorite Rooftop Dining: The Sinclair

Disco Tots ($10): perfect heat red jalapeños, cheese roux, perfectly fried tater tots, a great dish

My sister and me

My fiance and my sister

We had a reservation for 7 pm on a Saturday night, but the place wasn't crowded at all then, anyway. We could've sat at a number of tables on the freakin' roof deck even if we hadn't had a reservation. Sweet. They even had heaters up there for when it gets a little chilly. By 7:30 it was starting to get full, so do plan accordingly.

Their little complimentary appetizer is a dish of goldfish crackers.

There's a decent draft beer selection, but the cocktails were actually worthwhile here too.

Truant (Strawberry-Basil Infused Vodka, St. Germain, Lime, Sparkling Wine - $10): So good

Pomegranate Ginger Spritz (American Harvest Organic Vodka, House Pomegranate Grenadine, Fresh Ginger, Lime, Seltzer - $10): Order that on a hot summer day. Fuck lemonade.

Hare and the Hound (Brokers Gin, Carrot Syrup, Aperol, Luxardo Originale, Orange Oil - $10 -pictured): It tasted to my fiance just like Orange Popsicle brand Popsicles and to me like t orange marker

Duck & Waffles ($10): Arugula and more of those perfect red jalapeños, a waffle quarter with maple syrup and a nice fried patty of tender duck meat. Loved the dish, loved the size.

Fried pickles with jalapeño remoulade ($8): It's better than slices but these spears were a bit too thin. Good batter and remoulade though.

When it started raining, we made our way downstairs and sat at a table with a friendly couple.

Matty Melt (Local Grass-fed Meat, Tickler Cheddar, Duck Skin Mayo, Roasted Onions, and House Pickles on Rye - $15): They said they could do a perfect medium rare and they did. It was a bit weird as a toasted sandwich, but I want their burger now.
The fries were skinny and oily and largely burnt but many people love them that way, so there ya go. The jalapeño remoulade isn't spicy, but it was pretty good.

Oh yeah, we're comin' back to try their burger on a bun next time.

Mac 'n' Cheese: We ordered this cuz the lady at the table next to us said it was great, but skip it. There's too much rosemary. It's okay mac and cheese, but it's not amazing, and the rest of the food is better.

This may just go to show that the attitude you have at a place can make or break the whole experience. Perhaps it was because my sister was in town and the three of us were having a great time, but we did have a great time. We loved the roof, we loved the food, we even liked the cocktails, and we want to go back for more.
